Barbarossa Vigna Dosso
Barbarossa
The grape that exists only here, found by Mario Pezzi in 1954 and studied by Professor Calò. It bears the name of Frederick Barbarossa, who conquered the fortress of Bertinoro in the twelfth century. On blue clay it speaks with a warm voice: sour cherry, wild blackberry, anise, ginger, pink pepper. Fine, juicy, mineral; it evolves in bottle for decades.

Sour cherry, anise and pink pepper: a warm red in dialogue with juicy, spiced meats.

- Vigna Dosso — Higher up, at about 300 metres, the earth grows deeper: blue Pliocene clay, compact, holding water and giving strength and structure. This is where Mario Pezzi propagated the first Barbarossa vine, in 1954.
