Origin

Since 1853, a family story.

In 1853 Costantino Pezzi bought the villa Castello Ugarte Lovatelli, on the hills of Bertinoro, together with part of the land around it. Since then the estate has grown, one vineyard at a time.

Within those walls, at the end of the fifteenth century, the painter Marco Palmezzano, a pupil of Melozzo da Forlì, was born. In 1950 Mario and Rina Pezzi gave the house a name, Fattoria Paradiso, and began to make wine from their own grapes. It was the path of the crus, followed under the guidance of Luigi Veronelli. It was Mario who found, in a corner of the estate, an unknown grape variety, Barbarossa, later studied by Professor Calò. And it was he again who, in 1962, answered Aldo Spallicci’s appeal: to save Pagadebit and Cagnina.

Today the thread is held by Graziella Pezzi and her son Jacopo, Mario’s grandson. The hands change; the listening remains.

A family does not own a land. It keeps it, for those who will come.
